This document will explain what is needed to be able to view a live videoconference stream. During the videoconference reservation, the conference coordinator must have chosen to enable streaming for the videoconference. In the confirmation e-mail that is sent to the coordinator, there will be a link view this page and with these instructions to view the live stream.
Live videoconference streaming is designed to be a one-way-only stream. The stream will be viewed with a delay (from the live event) of about 5-8 seconds, depending on your network connection.

- Enter your name (we recommend FirstName LastName@YourInstitution such as MikeCurtis@Northwestern)
- Enter the Conference ID provided by the conference coordinator.
(Without this ID, you cannot view the conference)
- Leave the PIN section blank unless your conference coordinator has informed you of the PIN number.
- Select your streaming media. Each media type is set to 384Kb, so all you need to do is choose between QuickTime and RealPlayer. Make sure your software is up to date (You can view the software requirements below).
Next, click on Advanced Streaming Options. This section allows you to modify how you view the conference.
To view the Video only, un-check the View Content Channel
To view the Video and the Content, make sure both are checked
To change the size of the Content or Video window, select the appropriate size from the drop down menu
To view the Content only, un-check Play Main Audio and Video
Click on Stream this Conference
The conference will begin streaming in a few seconds. You will hear audio, see video and content (computer presentation) if available.
Interactive Streaming:
While viewing the stream of a live videoconference, you can use the built-in web chat which is located under the content window. This chat is only functional with others who are viewing the live stream. There is no direct communication with the live event unless the conference coordinator has assigned a moderator for the web chat. You should follow up with the conference coordinator for those details.
